In Spring 2022, it was announced that management of APHA, the Alliance of Professional Health Advocates, was transitioning to new directors and that I, Trisha Torrey, would be retiring.
Retiring? Really? Trisha? Yes. It seemed like the right time.
After beginning my healthcare “fix it” journey in 2004 after my shocking misdiagnosis, I had put all my heart and soul, blood, sweat, and tears into supporting patients, and their advocates, not just through APHA, but through my books, my position on the Patient Advocate Certification Board, and in building PracticeUP! Online including more than one dozen of its courses. It did seem like the right time.
That transition took many months (as expected!) and by the end of 2022, I had stepped back almost 100%, with the exception of updating my books.
Well – OK – It did seem like the right time! Heck, I’m in my 70s now, my eyes give me some trouble, and as many of you know, my daughter is in a horrible medical situation which has only grown worse. (Over time I’ll share more, but not for this post.)
But it turned out that retirement was easier said than done. My husband tells everyone, “She sucks at retirement!” And he’s right.
So now – yes – I have UN-retired!
And this website is now Trisha-Assistance-Central for all the ways I have always been, and will continue to be available to those who want to continue on the journey to build your success as a patient advocate or care manager – from managing your own practice, to marketing and client acquisition ideas, and eventually to content like podcasts, tool reviews, and more….
